Odds For The 2010 Blue Diamond Stakes

The 2010 Blue Diamond Stakes barrier draw has certainly altered expectations with Psychologist, who was second favourite, dropping in the odds due to her wide draw for Saturday’s Group 1 race at the Caulfield Racecourse.

The Tony Vasil-trained filly was practically on even-footing with her male counterpart favourite Beneteau before Tuesdays barrier draw where she took the 16th gate. However at Sportsbet, Psychologist has now dropped to $8, whereas previously she was at $5.

The drop has seen Psychologist back down to third favourite for the 2010 Blue Diamond Stakes, however winning the Blue Diamond Prelude with such an impressive run; the filly should certainly not be discounted just yet.

The barrier draw has only helped Beneteau’s rankings with the colt odds on favourite by a substantial margin at $3.60. Drawing the middle ninth barrier, Beneteau has found his strongest competition out wide, and no wide barrier starter has won the race in its history.

Star Witness, a fellow contender for the 2010 Blue Diamond Stakes, also drew wide. Taking the 15th barrier, the colt’s odd also dropped, now at $7, and has overtaken Psychologist as second-favourite to win.

Crystal Lily, who drew the 11th barrier also saw her odd drop from$7.50 to $9, and will have to jump in early on to hold her ground.

However Secession has benefitted from the barrier draw for the 2010 Blue Diamond Stakes with his odds increasing from $13 to $10. The Peter Snowden-trained colt drew the fifth barrier.
The 2010 Blue Diamond Stakes will be the seventh of nine races to take place at the Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday and will start at 4pm.
