Earthquake Can Overcome Horror 2014 Blue Diamond Stakes Draw

February 20th, 2014

Paul Snowden is still confident that Earthquake can win the 2014 Blue Diamond Stakes this Saturday, despite her horror barrier draw of 15.

Snowden, who is the stable foreman for his father Peter, believes that Earthquake will be tough to beat come this weekend’s 2014 Blue Diamond Stakes.

“She is as good a chance as we’ve ever had in the race, there’s no doubt about that,” Snowden said.

“Ability-wise I don’t know. I’m not sure we’ve seen her at her best yet.

“I still think that’s to come.”

The foreman was always positive going into the Blue Diamond Prelude, but admits even he was shocked when Earthquake won the race by three lengths.

“I thought she would win the Prelude but I didn’t think she would win it like she did,” he said.

“That just proves to you that she’s a little racehorse and she goes to another level on the day.”

Earthquake has won both her race starts and has earned close to $140,000 during her short career.

Meanwhile, Gerald Ryan’s team were thrilled with Rubick’s draw of 10 in the 2014 Blue Diamond Stakes.

“We were hoping for between seven and 12,” said travelling foreman Sterling Alexiou.

“It’s an ideal gate for the horse.”

Rubicks is currently the $2.80 favourite to take out the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield this Saturday.
