Jukebox was set to make his racing debut in the late stages of the Spring Carnival, but was returned to the paddock for a freshen-up after he suffered a couple of minor ailments.

Jumping from the gates well in the Bet365 Maiden Plate (1100m), jockey Craig Williams took a positive position aboard the son of Snitzel, who displayed a keen turn of foot to comfortably put away six other two-year-olds.

Williams told Racing Victoria that it was not all smooth sailing for Jukebox, but the class in which he overcome tasks and hit the line suggests that he will furnish into a serious Blue Diamond Stakes 2017 prospect.

‘’I cut my holiday short to ride two really nice two-year-olds and he was definitely well worth it and so was the filly (Catchy) on Saturday,’’ Williams said.

‘’The stable has a big opinion of him and I’ve had a sit on him and I know he’s got plenty of ability and so it’s nice to see him go to the races and be very professional and do everything well.’

‘’The track is a bit patchy, on and off, and he was coming off the bridle through that type of ground but in the end he showed his class without having too much pressure and he does give me a feel that If I ask him for more, he’s going to give me a sharp response.

‘’He’s a horse with a lot of potential and very good ability.”

Close to 200 colts, geldings and fillies remain in contention for the feature race following the release of 2017 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes second acceptances earlier this week.

Following his impressive debut win, Jukebox has firmed into 2017 Blue Diamond Stakes odds of $13 with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
