Property has displayed plenty of ability and posted several outstanding results through his short racing career so far, but the colt was not included in Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes nominations and connections were faced with the decision of whether or not to pay a late entry into the Group 1 classic.

Smerdon is understandably thrilled that the colt will take his position in a capacity Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes field and is confident that with the necessary luck, the horse will be right in the finish of the race on Saturday.

“He had to win the Prelude to warrant going on and he has done that so he earned his chance,” Smerdon told AAP.

“And that’s what we’re doing, rolling the dice.

“Barriers and run of the race are going to separate a lot of these horses. There’s not much between half a dozen of them, so we need a barrier and we need a good run.

“Nothing I have seen of him suggests that he lacks strength.”

Property has only made three competitive appearances at the races since making his debut in early January, but has more than stamped himself as one to watch in posting two wins and a close second.

Lining up amongst particularly classy company in the Peter Siggins Plate (1100m) on debut, the Starcraft gelding produced a handy turn of foot in the final straight to finish second behind Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes favourite Catchy.

Responding in the best way possible, Property kicked clear in the final straight at Caulfield to win the Listed Blue Diamond Preview C&G (1000m) on Australia Day.

Undoubtedly at his best last time out however, Property immediately took up the pace after jumping well in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G (1100m) on February 11th and mustered a big turn of foot with 200m to run to find the line a length in the clear of closest rival Pariah.

The 2017 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes barrier draw is set to be completed by midday, today (Tuesday 21st February).

Property is currently tied alongside Formality on the third line of early 2017 Blue Diamond Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au, at a quote of $7.
